TES(Thermal Energy Storage) tanks are widely used with latent heat of fusion of water to store cooling. This provides a very efficient and economical way of district cooling for communities.
The first step was to provide insulation for the tanks with an R value of 13.1 with 10 cm thick polyurethane foam @ 40 density.
The second step required strong waterproofing and protection of the polyurethane foam. DELTAShield HP 400 was used providing a seamless application with a hardness of 40D, elongation of up to 400% and tensile above 20 mpa. These key factors and physical properties provide the adequate durability of the Pure Polyurea to last the warranty period of 10 years against the harsh climate.
The adhesion between polyurethane foam and DELTAShield HP 400 is direct and does not require a primer or adhesion promotor. Strict overcoat windows have to be followed as per the TDS guidelines for the success of the project.
