BASRA OIL REFINERY

Oil refineries often undergo maintenance procedures. Basra oil refinery had to rewater proof and recoat its oil slurry storage tank. The liner had to prove that it was chemical resistant to oil and various other petrochemicals that were stored in the concrete tank. Surface preperation and high bonding strength was important to achieve. Pull off tests showed the bonding strength at 6.3 mpa between the concrete and polyurea elastomer.

DELTAPrime 2K SF Primer was first applied, followed by DELTAShield HP 400 Pure Polyurea elastomer was applied at 3 mm thickness. Strict overcoat window procedures were followed in order to achieve the highest bonding strength.
