BRIDGE DECK WATERPROOFING

Bridge deck waterproofing requires special techniques and knowhow for successful applications. DELTAShield HP 400 was used for the seamless waterproofing layer of this bridge deck. Fast curing times ensures the project was completed within the time frame and the main contractor could move on with the application of the asphalt on top of DELTAShield HP 400. DELTAShield HP 400 shows no problems for the hot asphalt being poured over it.

Particular attention was given to surface preparation, to ensure no containments were left in the floor. The overcoat windows were strictly observed to ensure a successful application overall.

After the specification was confirmed, the application took place in following steps:

1. Removal of all existing asphalt premixes

2. Substrate preparation (Repair of any damages, cracks, imperfections on the concrete blocks)

3. Diamond grind of the substrates to create a sound surface profile of 60-80 microns

4. Priming with solvent free DELTAPrime 2K SF Primer

5. Application of Pure Polyurea DELTAShield HP 400 spray with a minimum thickness of 2mm

6. Priming with solvent free DELTAPrime 2K SF Primer with aggregates.
