DELTA Coatings International successfully completed a crane barge recoating project in Indonesia using its flagship pure polyurea system, DELTAShield HP 400.
The project involved the application of a seamless 5 mm thick protective membrane across the crane barge surface platform to provide long-term protection against the harsh marine operating environment. The asset is continuously exposed to saltwater, high humidity, heavy equipment traffic, impact loading, and abrasive operating conditions that can quickly degrade conventional coating systems.

The Challenge
Crane barges operate in some of the most aggressive environments in the marine sector. Constant exposure to seawater, elevated humidity levels, mechanical impact, and heavy operational loads can result in accelerated corrosion and premature coating failure.
The client required a high-performance protective coating solution capable of providing a seamless waterproof barrier while withstanding continuous mechanical and environmental stress. Minimising downtime during application was also a critical project requirement.
The Solution
DELTAShield HP 400 was spray applied at a thickness of 5 mm across the crane barge platform, creating a seamless, monolithic membrane with no joints, seams, or weak points.
The pure polyurea system provides superior resistance to continuous saltwater exposure and high humidity conditions while delivering outstanding abrasion and impact resistance for heavy-duty operational decks. Its rapid curing properties enabled fast project completion and a quick return to service.
The completed coating system provides 100% waterproofing with zero permeability, protecting the steel substrate from corrosion while offering excellent elongation and crack-bridging characteristics to accommodate movement and mechanical stress throughout the asset's operational life.
