Summary
Twenty year old GRP pipeline required urgent repairs during the plants shut down period. Cracks and tears started appearing on the GRP surface over the course of twenty years of vigorous use for transporting salt water.
Two key factors determined the choice of products:
- Primer adhesion to old GRP
- Elongation and chemical resistance of high saline water content
After various tests and approvals; DELTAPrime 2K SD solvent driven polyurethane primer was used along with DELTAShield HP 400 for its elongation and especially for its chemical resistance.
One Graco HXP2 reactor were used to spray DELTAShield HP 400. The project was completed in 60 days.
